Finnish Spectrolites

The majority of my watchers voted for the educating journals and so be it. I've got loads of unusual stones in my collection and I've got some information about them I might share with you.

Do you guys know what I do love Finland for? Well, except the fact that our cherished traditional art CV Agaave comes from Finland.   The answer is simple - Finnish spectrolites. As you all might have guessed, I'm a big fan of labradorites. And those colorful babies are the rarest and most expensive labradorite sort you may find in the whole world. The main spectrolite deposit is located in Ylämaa in south-eastern Finland. But don't ask me how to pronounce that, as I've got no clue. Maybe some Finnish speaker would bring the enlightenment?

You may easily distinguish a spectrolite from any common labradorite. Spectrolites have got...

1. Very bright, shiny, neon, vibrant color combinations. Labradorites are much more poor on colors and especially on color combinations.
2. Spectrolites ain't translucent when you hold them against the sun light, flame , lamp or whatever. They are mostly very dark, nearly to black rocks. Some thin slabs may shine through, but those slabs have to be really thin.
3. Spectrolites got some sort of the cat eye effect. They've got the angle when you see the black surface with a "cat eye" on it. I fear it's not easy to describe- just take a look at my videos in the end of the journal post.

And, of course, the price. Those minerals ain't easy to find and especially to get. A spectrolite cabochon may cost aroung 50-200$ and it's their ordinary price. They ain't cheap by all means.

Well, I'll add some words to my collection. The stones shown as thumbs are all mine. (My precioussssss!...) I'll use some of them for my crafts as well. I'm planning to let go some of them as I don't need tons of them. The 1st spectrolite I've used for crafts is this one. I've given it away as a Christmas gift for a bud of mine:
